Johnny ‘The German’ Luebke and Phil ‘Dongo’ Dongworth set up WAS Autocentre what seems like hundreds of years ago and, whilst busy setting up and working, started in the insane hobby of side car racing, after riding motorcycles for years. Taking the ‘WAS’ team to be one of the best and most respected teams in the UK, with British and European round wins, many top five finishes at the Isle of Mann TT, with a podium 2nd place in 2009. After the team returned to the island in July 2009 to take part in the Southern 100 Road Race, tragedy struck as Phil crashed in a qualifying round, leaving a massive gap.
